Perfect. Please note the sarcasm included in that thought. Cindy sniffed impudently, wrinkling her nose a bit, both at the presence of Neutron and Betty’s intolerable sneakiness. It was all just unbearable.
Then, unbearable, in Cindy’s book, had always been a very general term. Unbearable was just about anything that set her off. And come to think of it, that was also a very general term, as anything that was in the least bit annoying set her off. Of course, one could go on and on about this, creating more and more subtopics of Cindy’s general rage, but one must stop sometime, as it is figured that the rest of the world now has the point.
“Neutron.” she said curtly, tipping up her leveled chin just barely in “greeting”. Okay, since when had he been any taller than her? Not that it was by much, but he still was, even further irritating her. No, Cindy, stop, her mind yelled at her. You can’t let him be a scratch in the record. Just keep going, you’re doing great. You can’t let that wench overthrow you.
Like usual, her mind was very right. She couldn’t let anything overthrow her current standings. No matter how much Betty tried to pound her down, Cindy needed to bounce right back up.
She did not speak again, simply looked about at the other three in mind interest, her eyes landing on and narrowing at Betty finally before moving distastefully back to Neutron.

Betty positively bounded over to Jimmy, throwing her arms around him in the friendliest of hugs. She wondered briefly if the boy genius was dense enough to believe that she gave all this attention because she liked him, not just because it made Cindy flush with anger. She let the hug linger a little longer than necessary, borderline flirtatious.
So many things could happen in this confrontation. Jimmy could fall for Betty's charm and beauty once more, enraging Cindy. Cindy could be angry enough to give it all away - Jimmy and Cindy would hook up and Betty could write it off as her charity case for the year. Or, Cindy would keep it all inside again, and Betty would take the pleasure in watching her silently steam. It was all so enticing, Betty was giggling before anything had even happened.
"Imagine seeing you here, Jimmy," Betty cooed, "Whatever are you doing here?"
She didn't wait for his reply and continued on, speaking in the same sugarcoated voice. "Cindy and I were just talking about our potential beaus. Did you know she shot down Nick Dean last year?" She shook her head, "I most certainly didn't! But then," She paused for a second, lingering on her choice of (stolen) words, keeping her entrancing eye contact on Jimmy, "I suppose there are better men than Nick out there."
She didn't even wait for Cindy's reaction before she charged into her next question. "So what about you, Jimmy? Making eyes at any of us belles?"

Jimmy was surprised when Betty practically threw herself on him for a hug. Jimmy looked at Libby who had somewhat of a disgusted/dissaproving look on her face. He couldnt really make out Cindy's expression all he knew was that it was not good.
She started asking questions and barely gave him time to answer. When he started open his mouth another question came out of hers. When she finally asked the question Jimmy dreaded. "So what about you, Jimmy? Making eyes at any of us belles?"
Jimmy was a genius but he was no genius in getting himself out of these situations. His brain began working to say something but nothing was coming out of his mouth. "I...umm..uhh..maybe" Shoot! why did he just say maybe. Great now there gonna start asking questions. Nice going Jimmy. Jimmy braced himself for what was about to happen next.

Cindy’s expression was downright dangerous. Betty knew. She knew, and was now throwing herself all over him. Why had they chosen this shop, out of every other shop in the mall, to drag their “unworthy” hides into?! That was Betty’s effect; to make others feel unworthy. Which was exactly what she was doing by hugging Jimmy like that.
The phrase “blood-curdling” was becoming very much a literal statement at this point. Cindy’s entire body was tensing in an attempt to keep her face from flushing, or any other part of her, for that matter. Her hands failed the attempt to keep straight, and instead curled into neat fists at her sides. Her lips were still quite tight, and now pursed.
She was just trying to rub it in, wasn’t she? Making eyes at any of us belles?... Oh, she was going to get it one of these days. She knew Jimmy’s tendencies exactly, and every other boy’s, for that matter; of course he was making eyes at Betty! What man on the face of the earth didn’t?!
And he’d just admitted it. Oh, lovely.
She stepped backward, sinking slowly into the bench beside Libby and watching the two go at it, trying desperately to erase the picture in front of her from her mind. This was not happening. She somehow couldn’t keep herself from watching them, though. And even though she didn’t even want to admit it to herself, she was, indeed, the very definition of insanely jealous.
“I’m sure you are, Neutron.” she muttered loudly with a dismissive tone. The nerve...

Betty squealed with delight at Jimmy's words. A genuine squeal, not an artificial one conjured up to aggravate Cindy. Was Jimmy making eyes at Cindy? If so, this was one charity case she handled rather quickly. She only had to tease them enough for them to admit they liked each other.
And if Jimmy was making eyes at her...well, then, all the more fun for Betty.
Betty watched as Cindy sank onto the bench next to Libby. You're not getting away that easily, Vortex. She followed Cindy, perching herself on the edge of the bench, crossing her legs. She leaned forward, resting her elbows on her knee and her chin in her hands. She smiled up at Jimmy. "Do tell, Jimmy, Do tell! Who have you got the hots for? Don't be shy - spill! Maybe I can work my wonders, matchmaker-style." She glanced over to Cindy and gave the girl a knowing smile.

Jimmy couldnt breath he needed to get out of there. His brain was not working. Why did he have to say maybe? Why did he even have to go to the mall? Why did he have to sit on that bench? Why did they have to see them?
Jimmy looked at the three girls waiting for his response. Betty the most eager. He didnt know what to say. He knew what he wanted to say but he couldnt bring himself to say it. "I..uh..I'm..not at..uh.liberty to discuss..that..uhh matter"

Cindy’s eyes sat fixedly upon Jimmy as he spoke, brow furrowing dangerously as she listened intently. That little rat... Everyone knew who he always made eyes at. He wasn’t fooling anyone!
She groaned as he finished, glaring at the pair of them as she stood up defiantly, hands on her hips, now assuming her “volcano” pose. No more Miss Drama Queen. “Neutron, give it up!” she nearly yelled. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw the boutique owner glare at her for “disturbing the peace”, but little did she care. “It’s not like you’re fooling anyone, all of us know.”
She paused for a moment, narrowing her eyes and shaking her head disapprovingly at him. “You know, for a genius, you really don’t have that much common sense.”
Her eyes then turned on Betty, looking her distastefully up and down for the millionth time in the last five minutes. “She’s pretty, isn’t she?” Cindy indicated toward Betty with a jab of her thumb after rounding back on Neutron. “I don’t understand why you can’t let go of the notion that she may not be too superficial to date you. You just never give up, do you?” she rambled on, illustarating her point with exaggerated and aggravated hand gestures. “Get this through your thick skull: Everyone. Knows. Now if you don’t mind, I don’t want to witness you two making out or anything disgusting like that, so excuse me.”
With that, she stalked out of the shop, face bright red, but with anger instead of embarressment. She couldn’t believe the nerve of either of them. She was headed toward the girl’s bathroom, the only safe refuge. Unfortunately, they were on the other side of the mall, so she had a feeling she wouldn’t be safe anytime soon.
Lovely. Just perfect.

Jimmy jumped back a little at Cindys rage. She started yelling. Jimmy was afraid of this. What was she doing? Why was she yelling at him? He didnt do anything..Did he?
“Get this through your thick skull: Everyone. Knows. Now if you don’t mind, I don’t want to witness you two making out or anything disgusting like that, so excuse me.”
What? Did she think that Jimmy liked Betty? Everyone knows what? Jimmy needed to see what she was talking about. She stormed out of the botique. And Jimmy began to follow her even though she wasnt really running Jimmy caught up to her easily. He had become faster over the years. He grabbed her arm. "What are you talking about?"
(o.o.c sorry i dont know if thats the way you want the story to go but meh i tried. Hope I'm doing ok so far)

Though Betty was indeed laughing on the inside at Cindy's outburst, outside she merely shook her head. "Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear..." She looked up at Jimmy, and gave him a sympathetic smile. "You must excuse Cindy," she said, standing up and patting his arm in an act of comfort, "She has that tendency to get a bit...jealous at times."
Before she could say anymore, she felt a firm tap on her right shoulder. She turned, raising an eyebrow at whoever was interrupting her. She did hate to be interrupted. However, she found herself face to face with the boutique owner, who, scowling, handed over the green off-the-shoulder, wrapped in a box with a bow around. She shoved the box into Betty's arms, then, finding that Betty's hands were full, she rudely shoved the credit card into Betty's mouth and stormed off.
Betty wrinkled her nose in disgust and spat out the credit card. Holding the box under one arm, she tossed the credit card into her purse and glared at the retreating boutique owner. Then she turned back to Jimmy and Cindy, avoiding Libby for she knew that the girl would be laughing at this blatant disrespect toward Betty.
"I really must be going now," She said, looking her watch with feign interest. "People to see, stuff to do." She turned to Cindy.
"A present for you, Cindy," Betty said, simply, sliding the box into her free hand. She started to walk out the door, but as she passed Cindy she hissed in her ear, "I've always said you looked your best in green..."
Without further ado, Betty Quinlan left the store and disappeared into the crowd.

Betty was, indeed, a mean girl, in the most stereotypical way possible. A plastic, one might say. Hell bent on making other people’s lives a mess. Cindy hated her, now more than ever. How dare she stalk away like that, after pushing Cindy into a situation that embarressed her to her limit? Jealous... she most certainly wasn’t jealous, she tried to tell herself desperately. If anything, she pitied Neutron.
What was she talking about. Ha. As if he didn’t know. She was angry... angry at everything that was making this situation what it was. Cindy looked bitterly at the package in her hand, half tempted to throw it on the ground and stomp on it, if she wasn’t so materially consevative.
“I’ve... got to go, Libby. I’ll see you later.” she said over her shoulder to the dark-skinned girl on the bench. And without further ado, she wrenched her arm away from Neutron, not much caring whether he was still holding on when she tried to walk away.
“As if you don’t know. Perfect Betty Quinlan, pretty Betty Quinlan, queen of Retroville High... as if there’s not one boy in the world who would give his right hand to date her. You aren’t fooling anyone, you know, Neu-troid.” She pushed her way out of the shop, plotting a course to the nearest bench.
It was now that she began to jog slightly, seating herself down on the bench and sighing heavily. She took a brief moment to close her eyes and recite a line of a song in a whisper to herself. “If there’s a prize for rotten judgement... I guess I’ve already won that.”

Jimmy was even more confused than he last was. His brain did not definantly work with girls. So she thought he liked Betty huh? Jimmy spotted Libby next to him. And he thought what the heck might as well ask Libby whats going on. "Libby what the heck is Cindy talking about? I swear she always finds some way to ruin a pleasant conversation" (o.o.c. sorry they my posts arent that long hehe )

Libby sighed and shot a deadly glare at Jimmy. "Jimmy, you are so clueless!" She jumped out of her seat and got up in his face. She had finally gotten cooled off from her collision with Betty, when this idiot had to go and fire her up again. It was times like these that she understood why Cindy had never told Jimmy her true feelings. Or better yet, why he had never told her. He was so ignorant for a genius.
"She's not the one that ruined the conversation, Betty was!" She thought for a moment, then pointed an accusing finger at the blue-eyed boy. "Actually...it was your fault! You're the one that just had to come over when Betty called you! If you really were a genius, you'd know that to see Betty and Cindy within ten feet of each other is trouble!"
She held her head in one hand as she pushed her way past Jimmy to get to the door. She turned to cast one last glance at the genius, who still had the same confused look that he'd sported during the argument plastered on his face. She almost felt sorry for everything he had to put with, but shook the emotion off and exited through the door. The bell that rang on top of it as she walked through it seemed to make Libby's word as final as the closing door.
{o.o.c.: That's ok, you just being there is awesome because of the Cindy and Betty stuff! ^_^}

Cindy had again, indeed, gone off the deep end. Then again, what else was new? This was certainly not rare, if in easier or harder doses, depending on the situation. Considering, this was a pretty bad situation. Betty Quinlan always made it a bad situation. Cindy had a feeling that even without Neutron in the mix she'd have a problem with the popular senior.
From the bench, she could see the lower floor of the mall, so she busied herself people-watching, in a manner of speaking. She could only hope that she wouldn't find the witch anywhere. Then again, in this crowd, it would truly be hard to pick out one person.
Setting the box beside her, she sunk down in the bench, sighing slightly. The bell of the boutique rang, and Cindy looked up for a moment, nearly curiously, to make brief eye-contact with Libby. After a moment, her gaze moved through the glass doors to Neutron, though it only held for a second before diving down to the sanctuary of her capris.
Jerk.
...Though her face certainly didn't say that. Her face portrayed more of a... sad appearance, something quite rare in Cindy's case. But she found the situation hopeless, something she did not consider good in the least. Cindy Vortex did not do "hopeless".

Post by Sheen Estevez on Jul 30, 2005 18:07:13 GMT -5
(OOC - this is my first post as Sheen. I'm not exactly sure how he'll fit into this whole scenario, but hey, I'm new here and I had to start somewhere.^^)
As Cindy and Betty were going at it, Sheen Estevez was making his way down the mall, blissfully unaware of the fighting going on around him. He wasn't exactly sure where he was headed, or what had encouraged him to come to the mall in the first place. He thought Jimmy had said something about going to the mall earlier that day, but he hadn't seen Jimmy anywhere. Maybe it had been a dream or something.
Still, Sheen was happy walking along on his own. He didn't have a whole lot of money, but what change he did have was jingling in the pocket of his baggy black jeans, along with some empty candy wrappers from candy he had bought during his stroll down the blaringly-white hallways. He had already eaten the sugar-coated goodies, and he could feel the sugar working it's magic on him. He was always in a permantly-sugar-high state, but eating actual sugar only enhanced it. He was practically bouncing as he made his way past the stores. It must have been weird, seeing a tall, sixteen-year-old boy bouncing along, but if Sheen was receiving weird looks, he didn't notice. He never noticed, although he received weird looks all the time.
He decided to go and stop by Ralph's Records, his favorite music store. Libby was the one who had first shown it to him - she knew the best music places - a long time ago, and he had bought all the CDs he currently owned there. Maybe he'd find something worth spending what little money he had on. He was nearby there, anyway.
As he approached the store, his thoughts on what CDs he might be intrested in buying, he felt his stomach drop as he spotted a familiar face, near the girly boutique that was right across from the record store. Some distance away from the store, but still in his line of vision, was none other than Libby Folfax. He sighed, enjoying the butterflies that filled his stomach at the sight of her, the girl he was not-so-secretly in love with. She knew. In fact, everyone knew. He didn't even bother trying to hide it. On the contrary, he openly flaunted it all the time.
He noticed, however, she didn't look very happy. He then spotted Cindy, which was not surprising in the least, since they were always together. Cindy REALLY didn't look too happy. But, when WAS Cindy in a good mood?
He started heading toward them, to ask Libby what was up, when, from the corner of his eye, a familiar, very odd hairdo caught his attention. Ah, there was Jimmy! But why the heck was he in a girly store? And why didn't he look very happy? Torn, he glanced between his best friend and the girl of his dreams, and then decided to head in the direction of his best friend. Libby had Cindy with her, and Jimmy was by himself.
He entered the store, the door making it's annoying little chime. He approached his best friend. "Hey, dude! What's up? What the heck are you doing in THIS store?"

Jimmy at first thought he had imagined the grating voice of his friend, but he jerked out of his dream-like state and saw Sheen standing in front of him. He sighed heavily.
"Trying to understand the impeccably unpredictable mood patterns of the female gender." He scratched his head, still staring abjectly at the vacant spot Cindy had been occupying a short while earlier. "I'm afraid I'm failing miserably."
It infuriated him to no end. He was a genius; nothing in the world was supposed to be unknown to him. And yet nothing in the world was quite like girls. They seemed to thrive off the confusion of males. If it wasn't Betty, endlessly sending him strange hints, winks, or whatever her hormones wished to throw out at him, it was Cindy, sweetly talking to him one moment and threatening to knock him out the next.
He looked up at his friend forlornly. "Why does it have to be so hard?"
