She didn’t know why she was here. There was no point. I mean, she didn’t even want to take ballet, though her mother had made her for the past seven years. Ballet was boring, she didn’t like it... or at least it had been boring. Lately dancing had been helping her relieve stress, per se, and she couldn’t even put her finger on why. Perhaps it simply gave her the chance to move.
As she stood by the bar, her right arm holding her leg up nearly to her head as she stretched (ballet made one very flexible, as is a well known fact), Cindy decided that she would be mortified if anyone stumbled across her little practice sessions. The fact that she was doing this, in her opinion, was bad enough, but doing it by choice? That was downright strange. She sat down on the sleek wood floor, her legs extended in front of her. Bending forward, her slender fingers easily curled themselves around her pointed toes for ten counts before she slowly sat up again. She felt the light pink leotard pulling streneuously against her as she did this, the small gauze skirt of the same color brushing pleasantly against her thigh.
Miss Martin sat at her desk, feverishly going over class notes. She graciously allowed Cindy to use the studio when there were no classes, ecstatic that the girl was finally taking somewhat of an interest. The teacher did not approve in the slightest of parents who forced their children into things. “Miss Martin? Can you give me Santa Maria?” The instructor complied, though the song that had been requested wasn’t quite a ballet song... more tango, or something of the ballroom nature.
Cindy stood motionless in the middle of the room for a moment, her feet comfortably in first position. The music began, and so did she. A pas de cheval... then pas de chat... grand jete, then a pirouette... sissonne fondue, frappe, a sous-sus, rond de jambe, then a brief singular promanade...
“Take heed of your port de bras.” Miss Martin informed her absently, the eraser of her pencil perched at the corner of her mouth. Cindy heeded with a grand port de bras accompanying another petit jete. Motionless, then the grand battement en cloche, a fouette...
And the dance continued.
{ o o c : Wow... roleplaying with myself... I am desperate, but whatever. I got some of this morning's ballet bug out of my system. I was listening to "Santa Maria (Del Buen Ayre)" by Gotan Project and had to write this. }

Jimmy was looking around the dance studio. Afterall he would have to take Ballroom lessons here to his unliking. His mother was constantly trying to get him out of his lab. But out of all the things..Ballroom. Seriously Jimmy thought he would die of embarrasment.
Jimmy strolled about the building looking around. Jimmy saw a door and curiousity overcame him as he reached to open it. He opened it and he saw none other than Cindy Vortex doing Ballet. She never seemed like the ballet type but. Jimmy went to lean against the wall hoping to be unnoticed.
But if you have ever met Jimmy you'll know that he is not very hand eye cordinated and he fell. He was still on the ground when he looked up and saw Cindy Vortex staring at him.

The southern rhythms were doing wonders to soothe her from the inside out. It would have been much nicer for her to have lived in Buenos Aires, seeing as their... style, per se, was much better in Cindy’s opinion. Latin was wonderfully arousing, when it came to getting up and dancing. Plie... assemble... she went through all the moves impulsively just as she had practiced them. Every so often, Miss Martin admired Cindy’s improvement; since she’d been using it to calm herself, she had surely improved.
A sound brought Cindy to open her currently closed eyes and they fell upon... Jimmy Neutron? Of all the people, he had to walk in on her doing ballet?! Great, just great...
Unfortunately, he caught her as she was just about to accomplish another grand jete. And also unfortunately, the extra burst of adrenaline pushed her too far. Stumbling as her feet hit the ground, she toppeled unceremoniously into the bar, panting and pushing a lock of hair off her damp forehead.
“You are overshooting again, Darling. You must always remember where your center of balence is and land gracefully with it.” Miss Martin recited in a heavy French accent, not looking up from her paperwork.
But Cindy was barely listening. She leaned against the bar, panting slightly from the work and blinking blankly at Neutron, who was no more than six feet from her by the doorway. “What are you doing here, Neutron?” She attempted to hide the nervousness in her voice, but failed slightly.
She went back to stretching, still staring at him as she elevated herself on tiptoe in her point shoes and brought her left leg up next to her head, holding it there for ten counts.

Jimmy fell and Cindy fell. Jimmy got up and looked at Cindy holding her left leg up to her head for whatever reason. 'Must be some ballet thing' thought Jimmy. She asked him what he was doing here and he was not afraid after all it was just Vortex. But he suddenly felt nervous for some reason. But he just shook it off.
"I was just..uh..looking around thats all. What are you doing here"

Cindy glowered at him as she let her leg down and turned her back on him to do the other. Her left hand grasping the bar, she pulled her right leg up and held it there as she replied. “What does it look like I’m doing, Frankenhead? Don’t ask stupid questions.”
She let her leg down and turned back around to look at him, picking up her water bottle and taking a generous gulp out of it. “And it’s a bit hard for me to fathom you of all people looking around at a dance studio.” She raised an eyebrow at him questioningly as she squirted a bit of water into her hand, then splashed it relievingly onto her face. “What are you really up to?”
Her eyebrow was still perched as she unceremoniously popped her neck; it was quite stiff.
“Before you go, Cindy, darling... I’m going to have to ask you for that jete again. I want to see you do it right.” Miss Martin called from the other side of the room, bespectacled eyes looking curiously at the blond girl.
“You’re kidding me...” Cindy muttered under her breath, then replied to the instructor with a “Alright, just a minute!” But still, she inqusitively and dangerously stared Jimmy down for a response.

Jimmy rolled his eyes as he got up. "whats your problem vortex I'm not up to anything" He could see Cindy glaring at him. Jimmy sighed why did she always think he was up to something? "Look i have to take ballroom lessons and I thought I'd have a look around the studio, you got a problem with that vortex?"

Cindy tensed a bit to keep herself from snorting with laughter. It was one thing (and bad enough) that she was taking ballroom classes, but Jimmy?! It was absolutely laughable! But seeing as she wasn't in the mood to get herself into a brawl (she had, after all, just got done "channeling herself"), she simply raised both her eyebrows this time and turned back to the bar, leaning forward and stretching her right leg out with a pointed toe.
"Really." she stated uninterestedly. "I'm sure you'll find it positively repulsive that my mother's making me take ballroom, too." She let down her right leg and brought up the left one, leveling her chin with the line of her body.
She stopped and smirked, lowering herself onto the points of her toes slowly, thoughtfully. "I knew you had something you were here for."
Miss Martin looked up once more, seeming quite annoyed through those thick glasses of hers. "Cynthia! Jete! Now!"
Cindy sighed, rolling her eyes and leaning lazily against the bar. "Yes, Miss Martin..." she sighed, groaning. "Be right back." There was a definite annoyance in her voice, but all the same she tiptoed farther out onto the floor.
With a quick promanade to start, she propelled herself off the floor with the tips of her toe shoes, her legs arching in a very un-Cindy-like graceful fashion. Frankly, the fact that someone besides Miss Martin was watching her threw her off. "Remember the arms, Cindy... position of the arms for balence is very important! Again."
Cindy repeated exactly what she had just done, with the exception of her arm and hand positions, the look on her face quite annoyed. She was honestly making a fool of herself. Ballet... psh.
"Good, Miss Vortex... you may go." Nodding toward her teacher, Cindy turned and walked slowly back to where Jimmy stood, on the flats of her feet.
"I may go... I'm practicing, this isn't a lesson..." she muttered under her breath as she came to lean against the railing beside him. "And no, I don't have a problem with you waltzing around the studio. It's just I wouldn't have expected you of all people to be hanging around here and catching me practicing ballet..." She paused for a moment and chuckled at her own comment. Waltzing was a very literal and appropriate use of the verb. He would certainly be waltzing about the studio soon, now, wouldn't he?
Reaching down, she removed her toe shoes, taking a seat on the wood floor and massaging her feet. She'd been practicing for just over three hours, and it had done wonders to kill her feet. "Ouch..." she muttered as she rubbed them, wincing slightly. Toe shoes did indeed hurt, and she'd only been on them for a few months now. Perhaps it wouldn't be so bad once she got more practice... but more practice was impossible to think of just now.

Jimmy looked at Cindy as she removed her toe shoes. Her feet looked like they hurt and Jimmy felt somewhat sympathetic for her. But he couldnt let that show afterall he was Jimmy Neutron and she was Cindy Vortex they were sworn enemies. It had always been like that. And to Jimmy's unliking it would never change.
"yeah....so your taking ballroom to huh...Do you know who else signed up for the class so far" Jimmy said unsure of what to say.

Cindy couldn't help but scowl murderously at the thought of who else was entered in ballroom dancing. There was no getting around it; the class was going to be horrific just because of it. Honestly, she would rather have had two Neutrons than one Betty Quinlan. Glaring straight ahead at the wall, she sniffed angerly.
"Yeah." she replied, looking back down at her feet, and wishing she could get these stupid tights off. This, of course, was not an option, seeing as it would condone undressing in front of Jimmy Neutron. That would never happen, not now, not ever. "Miss I'm-So-Beautiful-and-Perfect. It figures."
She looked up at Jimmy, a scowl on her face, though it wasn't directed toward him. It was directed toward the image of Betty in her head. "Betty. Quinlan." she elaborated after a moment's silence.
Her voice did, indeed, sound annoyed, as she was. Standing up in her stocking feet, she held her shoes by the ribbons and clutched the bar in one hand, facing him. "That's all I know of, though... except Francisco and Fabio..." Her face clouded over a bit and something of a dreamy smile came over her face. Although she didn't have feelings for the brothers or anything, those Argentinian twins were not hard on the eyes at all...
"They're professionals. They work here for Miss Martin and they'll be helping us out in class, she says." she continued after recovering.

"oh" Jimmy said. Jimmy had not missed the scowl by Cindy, oh no he had not missed it at all. There were times like these when he asked himself if Cindy hated everyone except Libby. She didnt like Betty, and she most definantly didnt like him. And come to think of it she wasnt to fond of Sheen and Carl either.
Of course she had been nice to Jimmy sometimes. But well those sometimes were very rare. Yes very rare indeed. And with highschool they didnt see eachother as much. But he would have to cope with that for now. "Cindy do you mind if I ask you a question" Cindy just sorta looked at him. "Why do you hate Betty so much?"

Cindy looked doubtfully at the boy, shaking her head a few times before looking down at her feet. "What a stupid question, Neutron." she commented in a casual tone, one not meant to start anything. But it was true; that was certainly a stupid question. Why would one ask why Cindy hated Betty? Well... perhaps if one hadn't been able to decipher between jealousy and true passionate hate. Or perhaps they were the same things.
It was a simple (and aggravating) mystery to poor Cindy why he hadn't yet realized why she always got so impossible whenever Betty was around. But, she reminded herself, it was his fault of course, for liking the brat in the first place. She was absolutely sure he still liked her now, no matter how much Libby or anyone else tried to sway her.
"But wouldn't you be a bit angry if there was one other person who could easily obtain what you wanted more than anything? I guess it's just because she, according to all the guys at school, is the hottest thing on two legs. She knows it, too. She always gives me a hard time because..." She stopped for a moment, quickly trying to think of something to recover from her near slip. "...because she knows she could get to any girl."
It was a lame finish, obviously not what she was playing for to begin with, but there it was. It was true, even if it was not what she was going to say. "She's got everything, Nerd-tron. It's annoying."
Her sermon was finished now and she closed her mouth, leaning against the bar and sighing as she closed her eyes briefly. Although in the dim light of the studio you could not well see it, her face was quite pink, both from her practice session and the fact that she had almost just slipped up.

"oh" Jimmy said a little uncomfortable now. "well...what do you mean she can get to any girl?..I mean..she's nice to me..and she seems nice"
Jimmy thought he saw fire starting in Cindys eyes. Maybe he shouldnt have said that. Yes now come to think of it he REALLY shouldnt have said that. "umm I'm just sayin" Jimmy said hoping to not make her mad and start yet again another arguement.

"She seems nice to you." Cindy repeated blandly, wrinkling her nose as her face turned downward in a slight glare. "Of course she seems nice to you, Neu-troid... do you look like a girl?"
Taking a deep breath, she held down her possible follow-up comment, though the oppertunity was downright tempting, from where she was standing. "What I mean is, she can get to any girl by way of her greatest weakness, and though you may not know mine, she does." Cindy smirked knowingly. "Not that you ever will know that I have a weakness. She knows yours, too, by the way she acts around you. And if everyone else didn't, perhaps that would be an accomplishment. Unfortunately..." She paused, looking him up and down and cocking an eyebrow. "...she knows that every boy in Retroville High has crushed on her since elementary school. So, in short, it isn't really that much of a success."
Cindy smoothed back her hair, a little damp from the water she'd previously splashed on her face, smiling delicately, yet something malicious quite obviously lurked somewhere behind that smile. "Too bad she has the approximate IQ of a rubber duck."
Her words were dismissive, uncaring, nearly smooth, as she stood up, leaving the bar entirely and taking a few steps toward the ballet cubbies to put her shoes away. Ha. He would be questioning her about her weakness now, wouldn't he? Too bad he wasn't going to make her crack. She grinned to herself as she tied the ribbons of her shoes together and placed them in the small, square hole in the wall. "But that's how all girls like her are, isn't it? They aren't smart about it, but they can take to down just like that." She snapped her fingers, then turned back toward him, leaning up against the wall by the bar.

Jimmy somewhat smirked. hmm a weakness huh. Cindy Vortex actually had a weakness. And Jimmy Neutron was determined to find it out.
It was not every day that Cindy actually admitted that she had a weakness afterall. This was somewhat of a kodak moment. Jimmy leaned against the wall in somewhat of a flirting way. "So you have a weekness huh? Well what is it?" Jimmy said determined to find out.

Cindy cast him a dubious glance, which was soon coupled by a roll of the eyes. "What part of "not that you'll ever know" did you not pick up there, Neutron?" she asked him doubtfully as she let her hair down from its bun. It fell messily about her face, much to her dismay, but at the moment, she didn't care.
Alright, so it was sort of a Kodak moment, to be entirely truthful. It was quite odd that she was admitting to a weakness, but hey, she was cooled down.
Yes, Betty knew her weakness and used it against her on a regular basis. It was quite the irritating play of things, but Cindy supposed life was like that and she was going to have to somehow live with it, as she knew Betty was not going to back down until a) she left school or b) Cindy's greatest weakness was no longer a problem. Of course, the second of these choices could only happen in one very improbable way, so one could expect Cindy to have to wait an entire other year until Betty was out of her hair.
"Let's just say... you would far from expect it, Neutron." The look she gave him was nearly a grin, though not quite to that extent. It was true; it was far from what he would expect... or at least that's what she though. All she could do was hope he didn't actually know the secret she worked so hard to keep quiet.
