It was beyond Cindy Vortex why all these preppy female pricks were taking a semi-formal dance and turning it into the Acadamy Awards. She smirked boldly around at the numerous corsages and full-length ball gowns littering the gym, casually holding the hand of her date, Jimmy Neutron. She was quite content with the dress she had chosen for herself. The silky emerald green material fell to about her knees in an uneven cut and clutched her shoulders by way of two thin straps. It was a normal dress, really; one you might wear to your friend's piano recital or a family reunion (alright, perhaps not that exactly), but it was still quite flattering and it gently complimented what little curves she had.
She was flowerless, minus one beautiful white rose that she'd left with her purse back in the "coat room", as she hadn't especially wanted to carry it around. This absense of floral decorations was mostly by her own request, as although flowers were gorgeous she found them to be bothersomely trivial when one was trying to dance. A labor of love - or perhaps a classic labor to annoy her - had brought about the rose, though she hadn't complained about it in the slightest. Upon recieving it, she'd simply marveled, smelled it, and kissed him on the cheek in thanks.
Cindy turned toward her date with a smile, giving his hand a squeeze. Contrary to popular belief, they were not boyfriend and girlfriend - they'd failed to make it official as of yet - but that didn't keep her wishful thinking. That was not what tonight was about, though, and she wasn't about to make it an issue.
"Do you dance, then?" she asked eagerly, an almost teasing tone in her voice as she tapped her heeled foot to the beat of the quick song currently playing. She had indeed been dismayed to discover that she still wasn't tall enough to match him, even with the heels.
She grinned, raising an eyebrow. Jimmy had never seemed the dancing type, but perhaps she was in for a surprise?
{ o o c : Yes... horrid, I know... I couldn't figure out how to open this, so here you go! *shrugs* Gimme a break, I wrote it at 11:00 last night on a sheet of notebook paper because I had to write something or I was going to keel over dead. }

Jimmy felt incredibly miffed as he entered the gymnasium. He wondered whether all the glittering, glamorous gowns and stiff tuxedos that littered the gym had read the numerous brightly-colored fliers pasted around the school, which said very plainly in multi-colored ink "semi-formal". Leave it to high schoolers to over-dose ever social event in smothering glitz.
Jimmy had hardly looked at what he was wearing. During the entire time he had shopped, tried on, and purchased suitable clothing, he had been entirely absorbed in Einstein's special theory of relativity and proving gravity had no consequential significance, advanced findings or not, (a project he had lagged off on in the 7th grade.) He had let his mother toss things over his dressing room door and insist it was what every teen would be wearing to a semi-formal dance. But looking down now at the gray pinstriped slacks and white, button-up collared shirt his mother had chosen for him and comparing it to the vast majority of the students there, he sincerely doubted it.
He had hardly focused on himself, however, because something much more distracting was currently holding his hand. Jimmy had known Cindy would look ravishing no matter what she would be wearing, but his eyes had hardly been able to leave her all evening. (It wasn't as though he would have been doing differently had he not been her date, but it was much nicer now that he could stare openly.) Despite the objections Cindy had made, Jimmy brought her a flower. A simple white rose. A simple symbol he felt represented her perfectly: innocent and delicate, but with thorns aplenty to jab and poke you when you least expect it.
He had already been looking down at Cindy when she squeezed his hand and looked up at him with a smile. He gave a smile back, which faltered when she asked whether or not he danced. Certainly, when his mother had shocked him by signing him up for ballroom dance lessons, he had memorized ever instructional book he could lay his hands on, determined to not make a complete idiot out of himself, but applying the logic was a whole nother thing entirely!
"I sure hope so," he muttered, more to himself than Cindy, and swung her out onto the dance floor.
{o.o.c. I doubt it's apparent to the public, but my writer's block is gone! Count on the start of school to cure something like that. Pure irony.}

Cindy gasped and giggled slightly as he spun her out onto the dance floor. She could only be entirely exuberently happy about the fact that she had been taking ballet from a ballroom-obsessed instructor for the past seven years. She knew some things, at least, if not much, and she was light enough on her feet so she could follow his steps easily. She was quite surprised that he knew anything about dancing, knowing him, but then again he'd probably done extensive research on the subject upon having knowledge of the fact he had to take classes. They were most definitely earning stares from many of the other teenagers littering the dance floor as they continued their bewitching Quick Step to the lively beat of the music. They were graceful, light on their feet, unlike the rest who simply swayed their hips in an awkward fashion as they blinked blankly at Cindy and Jimmy. She smiled at him as they spun about, making sure to keep her chin level and her chin tilted, as well as her frame stiff and her posture tall. In a classic Vortex attempt to try to find something wrong with what Jimmy was doing, she took her hand away from his for a moment to tilt his chin upward just slightly, winking at him before resuming her position. "Watch your posture, Neutron." she told him expertly, as if she knew anything, although she couldn't find anything wrong with his posture. She still could not help but smile as the tempo slowed down and she found herself, as if by a magnetic force, being drawn closer to him. The song was slow and Cindy ceased the fancy footwork, simply tightening her grip about his shoulders with her left arm as she kept her right hand in his left. Leaning her head up against the face of his shoulder, she sighed and closed her eyes, barely moving her feet at all as she simply enjoyed having an excuse to be close to him. Her lips were still curled into a gentle smile as she worked on simply melting on the spot, barely even hearing the song that was currently playing. { o o c : Incredibly, I can tell! I mean, you were writing well before, but you blew me away with this post! I have writer's block now... meh... And I may extend the dates of the dance, just because I don't know whether we'll be able to get totally done by the 16th. Anyway, great job! }

Jimmy hardly noticed the numerous stares he and Cindy were earning; he had become practically immune to them at this point and was certain he would obtain many more as the days went on. He was too enraptured by Cindy, who was grinning up at him as they whirled around the dance floor. He wasn't even able to scowl down at her -- even if good-naturedly -- when she tilted his chin with a reprimand of his supposedly poor posture. (Part of it was the competitive knowledge that had she not currently been enrolled in ballet classes, she would have had a greater difficulty following him.) "Whatever, Vortex," he murmured, a thrill of excitement running through him as he heard the quick-paced song merge smoothly into a slower one. Cindy's feet ceased moving in perfect, effortless form and she leaned into him, swaying on the spot. Jimmy tightened his grip around her waist, making no protests about the sudden change in their dancing technique. As they melted into each other and life finally gave Jimmy a chance to breath, he did suppose Cindy's words earlier had some merit to them: things were happening quickly. It hadn't even been a week ago that the pair of them had been fighting heatedly in Chemistry, outwardly showing nothing but sincere loathing for each other. To have suddenly gone from that to this...well, it certainly was a change. For the better, of course. It had simply been Cindy's more concentrated emotions that let her catch up with the fact sooner. "So," he said softly into her ear as the song was playing its final chords, "what are you doing tomorrow?" {o.o.c. Well, that's good! (About my improvement. Not your writer's block. That's not fun.) I thought your posts were great anyways; you shouldn't have told us! And I'm not at all objective to extending this...until, of course, my writer's block returns, as it always does. Bleh.}

Cindy was relieved to find that she didn't have to think about the world around her. Everything seemed to just... fade. It was a strange and wonderful feeling; intoxicating, really. She wasn't at all used to feeling this much. She was honestly convinced that she could have stayed like this for the entire dance and longer, but she knew that wasn't going to happen. Besides, the way things were looking at the moment, they'd have plenty more opportunities to engage in such activities as this. She breathed deeply, inhaling the bewitching scent of his cologne and relaxing a bit more in his arms, gaining more and more of her comfort for the situation at hand as the moments ticked by.
It felt as if they were the only two on the dance floor, their shuffling steps barely visible to the naked eye as they swayed nearly invisibly back and forth. Cindy was certainly basking in the moment, forgetting about how quickly their relationship had progressed as she buried her face in his shoulder, smiling widely. For once, she had no fear of drinking in the moment. Or thinking like this. Gah, this was weird... but in a good way.
She raised her head a bit to look at him at his words, raising an eyebrow and grinning coyly. "Mmm... it depends. Why?" Leaning her head against his cheek (damn her short heels), she chuckled and continued. "If you're planning on using me as a subject to one of those psychotic experiments of yours, you can bet I'll be busy all day." Pulling back a bit, she pecked him teasingly on the lips, then hugged him in jest. She hadn't at all heeded that the song had ended, but neither did she care. It didn't matter.
{ o o c : Hehe, thanks! Either way, writer's block is horrid... X.x This post is pretty bad as well, though it's better than my last one. It's too corny, in my opinion, but who better to write "corny" than such a sappy person as me? I hope school brings about a difference in my writing, for the better, as it did yours. I'm dying here. }

Jimmy's small frown at Cindy's assumption was wiped clear and replaced with a stupid, lopsided smile as she leaned forward and delivered a short kiss. He was doing to much of that lately, though he found through all the pros and cons the side-effects of her kisses were well worth it. "Of course not," he scoffed, hugging her back. "I just want to spend time with you. You know, the normal way: go see a movie, grab some lunch, maybe stop by the park..." He was unable to continue -- or see Cindy's reaction -- because another song had started up. A quicker one that sent people around them into livelier movement that threatened to jostle Jimmy and Cindy apart. He grabbed Cindy's hand and pulled her away from the mainstream of people to talk with her properly. {o.o.c. Haha, you're not doing so bad. I can definitely see improvement the more you post -- as is with all writers. And no matter how school may have magically fixed my writer's block, I'm glad it's Friday. It's the first week; I'm in for it. }

Cindy’s smile flickered in near surprise at his words, her heart giving a small leap. He wanted to spend time with her; she couldn’t help but be a bit excited at this. She gave a short laugh of surprise, smoothing a wrinkle in his shirt before making eye contact with him. She had just opened her mouth to answer him before the mob of clumsy, over-zealous dancers invaded the dance floor again and tore them apart. Therefore, she gladly allowed Jimmy to lead her away to a far corner of the gym, one much less populated than the rest of the dance.
When they stopped she simply turned her head toward him, the corners of her mouth turning upward fondly as her eyes flickered from him to the floor and back to him. “You want to spend time with me?” she said quietly, her smile growing by the second. “I guess I could squeeze you in. Besides, your idea is refreshingly unoriginal, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing in our case, you know.”
Cindy chuckled slightly, biting her lip and shaking her head at the thought. It was true; the prospect of a “normal” date was rather nice when it came to the both of them, seeing as they were barely normal in reality.
{ o o c : Curse my writer's block... horrid post, I apologize. I can't wait to see my friends from school again. But first... California! Though not for another week. }

Jimmy, though already half-expecting her answer to be positive, was waiting with baited breath to hear Cindy's response. He nodded fervently when she spoke, then rolled his eyes. Typical Cindy, typical shielding sarcasm. God, how he loved her.
"I'm glad you think so," he said -- in complete honesty. He had been afraid something as abysmally lame as the invitation that had just popped out like that would have been slammed down faster than he could brace himself. "Knowing you, I'm certain you have specific preferences?..."
He pulled Cindy closer to him, hugging her fondly and not really caring what they were at the moment. He kissed the bridge of her nose before resting his cheek against her, pivoting back and forth in a much more prominent sway than the last dance had been host to, but still keeping his firm grip around her waist.
{o.o.c. Meehhh, so tired! I just got back from a party a guy friend of mine threw... a little reunion with our youth retreat group. It was buckets of fun, but swimming is so draining. Just goes to show you for such an avid camper I am how badly I'm out of shape.}

"Me, preferences?" Cindy giggled as he kissed her nose, "Never!" Wrapping her arms around his neck, she closed her eyes and smiled, allowing Jimmy to sway her rhythmically back and forth. "If I knew all the movies that were playing, perhaps I could come to a valid decision, but the fact of the matter is, I don't. But I'll figure it out and get back to you, hmm?"
Cindy's eyes opened and glanced about at all the people around them. She stuck out the tip of her tongue distastefully. How she loathed the people. People stole one's moments, one's life, one's privacy, and they were certainly pickpocketing her of these things at the moment. Not only this, but it was entirely too hot in the gym currently from all the dancing teens in an enclosed space.
They could stay, certainly, or they could head off and take a walk about the park... or something of the sort. At the moment, she wanted to get away from here, away from everybody. To her, it just seemed awkward, as if the presence of the rest of the school were stifling them. This was probably the case, come to consider it.
Sighing, she shook her head and pulled away from him just enough to look him in the eye. "For now, let's blow this joint and head somewhere else. It's too stuffy and crowded in here, if I do say so myself." she murmured, running a hand through his dark hair as she spoke. "What do you say?"
{ o o c : Frankly, I am too, just because we haven't had a horse for a few months, and before that my beautiful Smokey had been lame since last summer, so I haven't been able to ride. There went my buns and thighs of steel. I'll get those back very soon, though... muahahahaha... }

"Mmm...sounds great," Jimmy muttered, his eyes closed and nose buried in Cindy's fragrant hair. He felt pleasantly warm and tingly, his senses filled with nothing but the intoxicating girl in front of him. Still firmly gripping her waist, it was sheer momentum that kept them dancing.
He opened his eyes, feeling slightly dizzy, and looked down at Cindy when she spoke again and pulled away from him. In actuality, he didn't feel the slightest way about the situation as Cindy did. He had clean forgotten there was any other life source in town, let alone the school. He melted as she ran one of her slender hands through his hair.
"Whatever you say," he said, grinning down at her. As cheesy as it sounded, Jimmy didn't care in the slightest where they went, so long as they were together.
{o.o.c. Gaaahh, I hate school!!! So much! I missed like, eighteen post while I was away! Oh well...this is going to be around for a while (I expect) and there is plenty more time to be sucked up by it before I die. Hope this post wasn't horrendously poisoned by SCHOOL.}

Cindy groaned, latching herself onto him and burying her face in the side of his neck. "God, that is the first time you have ever said that to me. It's so weird, Neutron!" She laughed weakly afterward, taking a deep breath and slackening her grip slightly.
Smiling, she kissed his jawbone a few times before catching his lips briefly. It was still... electricity. That was the only word she could think of at the moment. It was like a power surge. It was the strangest, yet most pleasant thing she'd ever felt. It nearly caused her physical pain to break away from him. "How about we take a little stroll around the park, hmm?" she asked as she pulled away, smiling faintly and leaning back slightly.
She bit her lip to keep her smile from growing. Certainly she knew what she was feeling, although she had been confused recently. She loved him, she really did... but then again, there had been many years for these emotions to simmer. It made sense, from some perspectives. From hers, at the moment, she didn't give a damn whether it made any sense. Jimmy had always made too much sense and it was about time that he confused her for the sake of clearing her head.
{ o o c : Thank god for late school starts. Very glad I'm on vacation for a few more weeks. Much more time to write, even though I have writer's block and am only getting ideas for a brand new story that's probably going to come out fairly soon. Eh, I don't know. }

Jimmy was about to ask Cindy if it was a bad thing, (because he was sure that, even through all the enticing kisses, that a world where everything went as Cindy said could be tiresome and potentially dangerous,) but he was unable to when she caught his lips after a short trail of said kisses along his jaw in an electrifying connection.
Even with every one of his two-hundred plus I.Q. points telling him they would get caught if they continued on with their actions, Jimmy didn't really give a damn. He growled internally as Cindy pulled away from him to look into his eyes.
Would she just quite talking? he thought to himself, rather peeved with the teaser of a kiss Cindy had snatched away from him. He was unable to stay even remotely upset, though, when she looked up at him, eyes bright and smiling, biting her lip oh so enticingly. The grin that spread itself across his face was so wide he was sure it must have rendered him incapable of correctly enunciated speech, so he simply nodded and began to walk out of the gymnasium with her.
{o.o.c. I swear that I replied to this a few days ago; it deleted itself! It must have been some hacker with something against Jimmy Neutron, or a virus, or -- *GASP!* THERE IS A POST EATING POLTERGEIST ON THE LOOSE!! Either way, sorry. Where do you want to end this and/or/whatever continue it?}

{ o o c : Not really. I'm now stuck on White Gold. Don't know how to start Chapter 2. It's making me very frustrated. But I'm glad I'm decieving you! ^^ I'm actually quite partial to that post and I hope I eventually get to roleplay it. Roleplaying tends to do miracles for my writer's block. Anyway, make a post over there sil tu plait? If you don't want to, though, lemme know and I'll think of something. ^.* }
