It had been a very long time since Cindy Vortex had been to Jimmy Neutron’s infamous lab. With acceptable intentions, that is. It had to have been at least a few years since any sort of adventure had been implied with a trip across the street. But of course, things had changed over the years, as they often did when preteens reached the intimidating yet eventually rewarding stage known as puberty, and intents had... matured. But when all was said and done, it was nice to be visiting with friends.
As she approached the renowned clubhouse, Cindy couldn’t help but wonder why it had changed so little over the course of these last few years of their lives. It seemed strange, eerie in a sense, that something could remind her so much of “the old days”. It was a nearly impossible thought, but there it was. It was almost like she was eleven again, ready to give “stupid, big-headed Jimmy Nerd-tron” a piece of her mind over one thing or another. But, of course, things had changed.
Sometimes, she found, she even missed the little things like that. Certainly not enough to go back, but she missed it even so. She missed the full togetherness she’d shared with her friends, the lack of male-female pairing, the rivalry... everything. There was no satisfaction in making him slip these days because there was simply nothing to tell. Everyone knew, after all.
But for no sum of money would she return to that. Things had changed.
It was with this sturdy thought that she approached the door of the clubhouse, not bothering to knock. Instead, she yelled, “Hey, dweeb, lemme in!” full ready for whatever form of entry Jimmy would choose to subject him to.
{ o o c : There. It's crap. Last minute. I'm stressed. Now post me something, snot. Much love! }
